Quickstart Guide

This guide is intended to be the quickest way for a Player to begin playing using the CSRD.

What is Celestial?

Celestial is a table-top role-playing system. Although unique worlds can be used with the Celestial System, much of it is written with the Celestial Universe in mind.

Celestial is intended to be an engaging role-playing game with a focus on combat mechanics, intriguing character building, and active gameplay.

What is a Character?

Characters are a collection of Attributes, Traits, Talents, Trainings, and much more.

Attributes

Attributes are the measure of your Character’s base abilities. Each Attribute is made up of what is called an Attribute Pool. This pool is drained by use, grows with Character Advancement, and is replenished through Resting, Incantations, and Items.

  • A beginning Character starts with a 10 in each Attribute, chooses which Attributes to Focus, and thereafter rolls 1d10 for each un-Focused Attribute and 2d10 for each Focused Attribute.

  • Upon Advancement, a Character receives 2 Attribute Points they can distribute freely and 1 extra Attribute Point for each Focused Attribute.

Traits

Traits are Character aspects that are inherent upon creation or are bestowed upon you during gameplay. Having Traits can give you initial boosts to your character or allow access to particular Talent trees.

  • These are determined by the Archetype or the GM.

Talents

Talents are special abilities that your Character has learned over time. Talents can bolster your Trainings, your Traits, and even your Attributes by providing bonuses or ways to do an action.

  • A beginning Character starts with 1 Talent and gains an additional Talent every 2 Advancements past the first.

Trainings

Trainings are what your Character advances slowly over time and represent things such as how well you fight with a particular type of weapon, how much you know about a particular subject, or even how well you can call others to your aid.

  • Characters receive Trainings upon every Advancement and the amount of Trainings is determined by the Archetype.
